About PC Rescue
Forest of Dean PC Rescue Ltd was formed and is managed by Lee Bates, who started his technical career in 1980 as one of the army of apprentices for British Aerospace in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
During his six-year stint at BAe he encountered computers for the first time, and learnt how to program machine code onto punched cards. The multiple flashing lights and myriad of switches on the Tornado aircraft test equipment triggered an excitement that has not waned to this day, although Lee has completely forgotten most of what was learned back then!
Lee's first steps learning BASIC on the Sinclair ZX81 were followed by playing and modifying games on an early Amstrad computer, untold hours spent playing games on an Amiga, and then some serious music production in a professional capacity on the Atari ST which Lee still does as a hobby whenever he's not mending computers.
After stepping up to learn Microsoft Windows 3.1, then Windows 95 in the mid-nineties, Lee really started to hone his skills with Windows 98 and began building computers for friends and family.
Soon word got round, and Lee eventually launched “North Herts PC Rescue” as a full time concern in 2003 when demand for his skills became greater than his spare time would allow.
London-born and raised in North Hertfordshire, Lee decided to give up the hustle and bustle of “The Smoke” and moved to the Forest in late 2006, much preferring the slower pace of life, the beautiful surroundings and the friendly welcome of the Foresters!
Having handed his original business to a trusted friend and basically starting again from scratch when he set up “Forest of Dean PC Rescue”, Lee's business has steadily grown in reputation, and eventually the decision was made in 2010 to form “Forest of Dean PC Rescue Ltd”.
Lee Bates is a CompTIA A+ Certified Computer Technician, and when time allows will be taking further certificates for Network+, Server+ and Microsoft MCITP for Windows 7 Enterprise.
